City Council Bans Standing on the Median

(September 5, 2006) City Council passes an ordinance to ban pedestrians on the median (this is to stop the abortion protestors from standing on the median with their graphic signs of aborted fetuses).



Council hears a presentation from Honeywell guaranteeing the city will save money by spending more money on new HVAC systems. The Council approved a new voice recording system for the police department only to learn after the meeting that they violated the city charter by not going out to bid. Council passes an ordinance banning parking on Owendale in an ongoing fight with the BP station on Washtenaw.
